Recently, yet another colleague shared a confidential Google Doc with the entire planet, giving edit rights to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Sigh. Fortunately, it was not an IEP, covid contact tracking list, or other highly confidential document. But that didn't lessen the implications of what was - and what continues - to be done. People are tapping the share button and giving everyone access to documents that few people should access. Making a document viewable by the public is great for bus routes, lunch menus, schedules, and things you want all parents and community members to see. So, go for it and share! Eliminate hundreds or thousands of email attachments. That's where drive really shines. But please, stop sharing confidential stuff with the entire planet.
